On April 7 and May 19, 2008, the Department of Labor finalized rules implementing statutory changes to federal government contractors’ affirmative action obligations regarding employment for protected classes of veterans. The revisions to job posting requirements are effective immediately, and the new VETS-100A form takes effect for the 2008 calendar year, with the first report under the new regulations due on September 30, 2009. The new regulations represent a change from the way many contractors have fulfilled their job posting and reporting requirements in the past.
